Impact Youth Inc

Welcome Student Athletes and Families

We are a community-based mentoring services designed to actively engage youth in Greater Cleveland to become involved with programs and civic activities that improve the quality of life for themselves, their families and their communities.

We are committed to:

1)  Providing positive adult role models that are responsible for ongoing guidance, support, personal interaction with, and accountability for, youth.

2)  Developing programs and services that will deter youth from delinquent activity and foster appropriate behaviors and attitudes.

3) Educating and guiding youth to make informed, positive life choices and increase the likelihood of a successful transition to adulthood and responsible parenthood.

“Seeds of faith are always in us; sometimes it takes a crisis to nourish and encourage their growth. What you see as a crisis, God sees as an opportunity for growth. What you see as humiliating, He sees as an occasion for the development of humble leadership. ”    ~Dr. Myles Munroe~

COVID-19

As a local non-profit dedicated to the social, emotional and physical health development of our youth scholars, we have been actively monitoring official news regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus since February of 2020. Although we are past the critical point that requires both response and preparation, we at Impact Youth, Inc continue to take important steps to protect our scholars, support team, coaches and our community that we serve.

We are currently enacting moderate safety practices. These practices may change, so be sure to check out our Team Huddle below for updates to our team’s latest efforts regarding health, safety, and service as follows.

Meetings and Interactions

  • Cleveland Bearcats football sign ups will start in January of 2024 during scheduled offseason workouts. There will be a registration fee of $75 for  winter indoor 6v6 flag, and an additional $75 for spring outdoor flag and the 7v7 passing league. The fee to participate in tackle football for the 2024 season will be $150. We are excited to get back to football after a well needed break spending time with family during the 2023 winter holiday season.
  • Our Impact Youth mentoring, tutoring, and social emotional development programs will be in session starting mid December 2023. Location is the Impact House. Upon registration for the above mentioned services, the location details will be disclosed as well as a schedule availability for session times.
  • Prior to training, each parent and player will have to sign a waiver in efforts to participate in the practice sessions. These waivers simply give us permission to provide your child an opportunity to participate in each training and practice session, while having a valid physical on file for their safety.

These are significant actions as required by these unprecedented circumstances. We at Impact Youth, Inc appreciate your cooperation. We understand this is an anxious time. We have been monitoring these events closely and are managing this response in keeping with CDC, State of Ohio, and Ohio Department of Health guidance. These actions are not taken lightly, and with them come an expectation that we will work together to protect each other, our scholars, our support team, our coaches and our community that we serve. Stay informed and take appropriate action to protect yourselves and loved ones. I am proud of the work that we do here at Impact Youth, Inc. God willing, our work will go on, and we will work through these challenges together.

  • Cleveland Bearcats football sign ups will continue through July. There will be NO FEE to participate in the 2020 season. Though we are implementing efforts to get our youth back active, and to regain a since of normalcy by trying to return back to the sport of football, we understand some parents and players may still be uncomfortable with returning, due to the COVID-19 virus that has impacted many.
  • Our Impact Youth Football regular season sign ups and practices, will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays in the month of July from 6:00- 8:00 PM. Location is John Marshall at 3952 W. 140th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44111.

Each participant and coach will be screened and have their temperature taken prior to participating in each practice sessions. With respect to the social distancing guidelines, please have your child bring their own water or sports beverage. Our Bearcats Parent Association will provide handmade face mask with our team colors for each child.
  • Prior to practicing, each parent and player will have to sign a waiver in efforts to participate in the practice sessions. These waivers simply give us permission to provide your child an opportunity to participate in each practice session.

Everyone Plays!

Our basketball league is open to youth grades 4th through 8th. We have skills training, coincides with practice and games, with an emphasis on fun, from June 8 to July 13. With the use of John Marshall High School’s two gymnasium’s, Impact Youth’s Basketball League provides a safe place for our area’s youth to play basketball in the summer while building a skill during the off-season. Decide… Commit… Act… Succeed… REPEAT!!!

Shawn Paul Austin Sr.

Born and raised in the Bellaire-Puritas community since April of 1972, Shawn attended local Cleveland schools in the Bellaire-Puritas community while playing youth and high school sports. Shawn played youth football in the early to mid 1980’s for a westside Cleveland Muny football team called the Cudell Deacons (named after Cleveland Brown’s player Doug Deacon). Shawn also played high school football at John Marshall High School. As a starting quarterback in 1989, his junior year, Shawn lead the team to a City Championship – their first in several years. Shawn also attended Cuyahoga Community College and the University of Akron as a business major. Shawn has coached student- athletes from ages 6-18. Shawn’s football coaching experience extends from the youth level, coaching in Cleveland Muny for the Gunning Park Gators, to the high school level at Holy Name High School. However, Shawn feels as though his greatest accomplishments is his commitment and contribution to the inner-city youth where he has served as a volunteer youth mentor, coach and trainer since June of 2003 in the Bellaire-Puritas community.

Coach Shawn Austin Sr. has spent 35 years either playing, working, raising a family, mentoring or coaching to better improve the overall quality of  our youth in the Bellaire-Puritas community where he grew up.

Thank you, on behalf of the student-athletes, for your continued support and participation.
